Air Force DB named MWC Def Player of Week

Air Force junior defensive back Jon Davis was named Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Wyoming.

Davis joins quarterback Pete Thomas of Colorado State and return specialist Jeremy Kerley of TCU, who were named MWC Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week.

Davis, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, recorded a team-high six tackles (five solo stops), one tackle for loss (-6 yards), an interception and a fumble recovery in Air Force's 20-14 win at Wyoming. With the Cowboys driving deep into Falcon territory on their opening possession of the game, Davis picked off quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels' pass in the end zone. Later, with 3:41 remaining in the fourth quarter, Davis recovered a Wyoming fumble, allowing Air Force to run out the clock and preserve a six-point road victory.

This is Davis' first MWC Player of the Week honor and the first by a Falcon in 2010.
