"I am Impressed!" Those are the words of Air Force coach Joe Scott after watching his team dominate a very good Wisconsin-Milwaukee on both offense and defense. The Falcons won 71-49.

Coach Joe Scott is not easily impressed and he demands a lot from his players.  In the Falcons 71-49 win over the Panthers Friday night at Clune arena Scott was definitely impressed and so were the 2,000 plus fans on hand to witness Air Force basketball come of age.  The Falcons are for real and they have proven their worth with their 2nd straight win over quality teams that had qualified for the NCAA tournament last season.  The Falcons just came off a big win over California in the championship game at the Golden Bear Classic in Berkeley with Air Force winning the tournament.

Those AFA fans local to the Air Force Academy are missing out on some great college basketball if they are not attending the Air Force home games.  It is very evident that Joe Scott's efforts are panning out, this team is on the court to win and they don't let up until the final horn sounds.  Last year we witnessed an improved Air Force team win some upset games in the Mountain West and drew the attention of MWC coaches.  This year the Falcons expect to win each game they play.  While winning out is a very unlikely scenario, the Falcons will play as competitively in the conference as they have outside the MWC.  And, believe me they are capable of beating any team they play this year.  There is no excuse for Clune arena not packed to the rafters this year.  The quality program is in place, now get out there and make Clune arena as tough to play in as any venue in the MWC.  The Falcons are currently 3-0 at home this year.

The Falcons controlled Bruce Pearl WMU coach impressed with AFA defense. Coach Pearl is pictured in March 03 NCAA Tourney game prep. (AP) the first 20 minutes of play with a solid defense and patient offense, shooting 60 percent from the field while forcing 14 Panther turnovers.  "It's a great system," UWM head coach Bruce Pearl said of Air Force's Princeton-style offense that led to 56.5 percent shooting from the field. "It's the most difficult system I've had to prepare for in 20 years of coaching, And their defense is unique. They probably don't get enough credit for their defense.  "There is a reason why they are 7-2. They are an excellent team."

The Falcons next play at home against Savannah State, Tuesday, 6 Jan 03 at 7PM... Be There!
