SAN DIEGO (AP) --Air Force (17-11, 8-5 Mountain West) hit 13
3-pointers, including three straight in a key second-half stretch. The Falcons
attempted 29 3-pointers, finishing in double figures for 3-pointers made for the
12th time this season.
Air Force struggled from the field in the first half, but came out hot in the
second, shooting 63 percent. The Aztecs, who led 33-30 at halftime, shot just
27.3 percent (6-for-22) in the second half.
Hood was 8-for-12 from the floor, including two 3-pointers, and six different
Falcons made 3-point shots. Nick Welch finished with 13 points and Tim Keller
had 12 to move into 12th on Air Force's career scoring list with 1,092 points.
Keller also played in his 113th game to become the Falcons' career leader.
Matt Thomas had a career-high 20 points for San Diego State (10-16, 4-9), which
lost its fifth straight game. Trimaine Davis and Brandon Heath added 10 points
each, but Heath shot just 3-for-15.
Air Force used three straight 3-pointers on consecutive possessions to take a
55-47 lead with 8:24 remaining in the game. The Aztecs did not get closer than
eight points for the rest of the game.
