All offseason, Army coaches, administrators, and fans have talked about the importance of establishing the program on a national stage. And while future contests against the likes of Notre Dame and Boston College will go a long way towards doing that, the Black Knights will have a chance to make just such a statement this week when ESPN College Gameday visits USAF for the service academy showdown.   Full Story

If Army wants a shot at its first bowl since 1996, they must have a win against Air Force or Navy. For the Black Knights to have a chance against Air Force, their 115th ranked offense will need to use every wrinkle in their play book to score against one of the nation’s best defenses.   Full Story

Saturday the Army Black Knights travel to Colorado to face rival Air Force in critical CIC Trophy match-up. Air Force has already fallen to Navy but Army has yet to play an academy rival and still controls their own destiny in the trophy race. The Cadets also have a legitimate shot at a bowl bid but they'll need to beat one of their academy rivals in order to accomplish that feat.   Full Story

Steve Fairchild’s second season at the helm of the CSU Rams got off to a great start by going 3-0 including getting the elusive victory over instate rival Colorado. Since then, the Rams have hit rock bottom. A home loss to San Diego State has put CSU in a position where they must win three of their remaining four games just to become bowl eligible. Air Force is next up for the reeling Rams.   Full Story

Journalists who cover Air Force football were quick to blame Falcons head coach Troy Calhoun for his team’s latest defeat to Navy - a 16-13 overtime loss on Saturday. Calling Calhoun’s offensive strategy “inept,” “conservative,” and “unimaginative,” two reporters held no punches in dissecting the entire game only hours, if not minutes, after it ended. I think their assessment is wrong.    Full Story

It has not been a great showing thus far for three of the four teams in the country running the triple option: Navy, Army and Georgia Tech. The fourth team, Air Force, has been the lone exception as they lead the nation with 344 rush yards per game. However, 500 yards against lowly Nicholls State tends to pad the resume a bit. So what does the future hold for this run-first offense?    Full Story

Air Force’s season opener game against Nicholls State held several positives for Falcon fans: It was a win, nobody got hurt, and the Falcons got to pad some stats (576 total yards offense, 474 rushing). Unfortunately, Nicholls State provided so little resistance as they graciously received a 72-0 beat down; the Falcons are left with more questions than answers as to the true ability of their team.   Full Story
